MANDELA: Twenty Years of Freedom

FEB 11, 2010 will mark the 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's release from prison. To mark the occasion Africartoons will be launching an exhibition of selected cartoons depicting highlights of the past twenty years entitled MANDELA: Twenty Years of Freedom.

Dec 8, 2009; Book Launch | 'DON'T JOKE'

THE BOOK LOUNGE in Cape Town was filled to the brim with cartoonists and appreciators of their art for the launch of DON'T JOKE! The Year in Cartoons, a collection of almost 400 cartoons chronicling the past year in the life of South Africa's young democracy. And what a year it's been!

2009 Dec 1: World AIDS Day

For the very first time since the declaration of World AIDS Day, South African cartoonists have cause to celebrate a government policy that is finally taking the pandemic seriously. There is much still to be done to turn the tide against HIV/AIDS, but as this collection of cartoons clearly demonstrates, denialism has at last given way to a new activism.
